SYNOPSIS
De sympathetic,
38-year old Larry Oedip, who still lives at home, has
an unusual mother. The lady is a practicing witch, who raised her boy away from
the outside world in the midst of wacky wizard uncles and witch aunts. On the
verge of getting forty years old, deeply annoyed by his mother’s strict
upbringing, Larry is finally tired of it, and decides to go for a normal life
in the non magical, grown-ups world. His mother of course dissaproves. The sweet couple
Brian and Linda are Larry’s newest friends, who guide him in his unusual
quest of getting acquainted with every day life – without using the
supernatural powers he was thought by his family. Something he has quite a lot
of trouble with, resulting in hilarious and awkward situations.
A rare disease
among witches and wizards strikes Larry’s mother and causes him to go back home
after a while to take care for his sick mother. In return, Brian and Linda go
look for their new buddy, naturally to find out the magic truth about him.
However, taking care of his mother may keep him at home,
in his mind he is liberated and ready for the real world, partly thanks to the
support of his new friends. Son of a
Witch is a partly sweet and partly hilarious film, and an unusual take
at the coming-off-age genre.
